Michael Kinyua
Managing DirectorMichael Kinyua is a distinguished oil and gas expert with over 15 years of experience in oil and gas exploration and development. He holds a master’s degree in petroleum engineering from Adelaide University and a BSc in Geology from the University of Nairobi.
Throughout his career, Michael has amassed extensive experience through various roles at the National Oil Corporation of Kenya (NOCK). At NOCK, he participated in numerous oil and gas exploration campaigns and led a team of geologists and engineers on multiple exploration projects across Kenya’s sedimentary basin in both onshore and offshore. Notably, Michael played a pivotal role in the drilling exploration and discovery of the Lokichar field project. He continues to provide advisory services and support to the government on upstream development projects, including the current field development plan for Lokichar.
Additionally, Michael has served as Deputy Program Manager and Technical Expert for a World Bank-funded program (KEPTAP), whose objective was to build capacity across various government agencies for the management oil and gas resources in Kenya. He was instrumental in the development of the Petroleum Act 2019, the petroleum policy, and various oil and gas regulations currently in operation.
Currently, Michael is the Lead Advisor and Chief Executive Officer of Hatch Energy Services Company, a consultancy and service firm established to offer comprehensive services across the oil and gas sector value chain.
